Football: From kickoff to Inspiration

I never imagined I'd be writing a blog! It's not my thing and I wasn't interested at all. But seriously, I've always been awe of Denkar's Getaway. That famous blogger's adventures are really impressive. So today, I'm just chilling in front of my laptop, feeling inspired to write a blog. From where should I start? Well, let me tell you how my journey of playing football began and became my ultimate inspiration. I'll make sure to keep you all hooked until the very last paragraph! Get ready for an exciting read. When I think back to my old times, seriously, I started playing football at the age of 9, back in class 3. I was always interested at playing football from a young age. I used to simply chase after the ball, not really aware of the rules, just enjoying the game. And after the match, I would be completely exhausted from running after the ball and only getting a touch or two on it. Looking back now, it's pretty funny to think about a little girl like me running after the ball. I played football until I was 6, not really knowing the rules and not being that good at it either. In grade 7, I finally joined Facebook and that's when I discovered this rising star footballer, Neymar Junior. I couldn't believe how famous he would become. He was absolutely incredible! The way he controlled the ball, his amazing dribbling skills, and his attitude on the field. I loved everything about him, and I became his fan from that very day. He inspired me so much! Where I started playing football more, practicing his dribbling skills from YouTube and giving even more interest to playing football.

Neymar Jr was rocking that number 11 jersey. I wanted to take the same number, but there were so many talented players in my batch who were way better than me. So, I made up my mind to work hard and put in the effort. I improved a lot and set my sights on getting selected for the Under-14 school team, no matter what. To my surprise, my prayers and wishes came true. I got selected for the U-14 school team, and I was over the moon with happiness. Moreover, I got my wish and got jersey number 11! I felt so confident playing with that number, just like Neymar Jr. I went to play at Samdrup Jongkhar primary school representing my school, Garpawoong MSS. There were teams from different schools coming together for the matches. It was such an exciting and competitive atmosphere. Luckily, we won the match, and I was selected to play at the national level, representing Samdrup Jongkhar dzongkhag. It made me realize that anything is possible if we are determined and working hard. After reaching gelephu, I wasn't selected for the national team as there were so many talented players from all 19 dzongkhags. I felt small compared to them, but I didn't give up on my love for football! When I reached grade 9, I went to study at Dungtse CS, and guess what? I got selected for the school football team there too. It was such an exciting opportunity. The footballers at our school received so much attention. Our counselor, Mr. Dawa Drukpa, gave us extra training, motivation, and inspiration. He always corrected our mistakes during the game and taught us the right way to play. He was such a dedicated mentor.

Not only did he sacrifice his time for us instead of being with his family, but he was also an amazing football player himself. The way he handled the ball was absolutely mind- blowing. It was amazing to see someone like Mr. Dawa Drukpa who put in so much hard work for our own benefit and success. He truly cared about our growth as players. He was such a motivator! Whenever we felt down, he always lifted our spirits and never let us give up. His encouragement and support meant the world to us. I'm so much thankful to him, I improved so much in football. I'm incredibly grateful to him for helping me discover my inner potential. He believed in me and pushed me to be the best player I could be. And you know what? The principal was also super supportive of girls playing football. It was fantastic to have such encouragement from the school administration. We felt empowered and included in the sport. You won't believe it, I got another chance to play at the national level, this time representing Trashigang dzongkhag. But unfortunately, I didn't make it to the national team once again. Even though, I didn't make it to the national team, I've decided that I won't give up on playing football. It's my true passion and inspiration, and I'll keep chasing after that ball with all my heart. Football has given me so many opportunities to explore different schools and places. It's been an incredible journey of exposure and growth.
